Preparation of Nepal Youth Counseling Resource Center (NYCRC)



Target Group

My target is youths of Nepali churches. In youth I have included people from 13-30 age groups. The spiritual, educational, social, economical level may vary but they share some common thing as their problems.



Purpose Statement

· Many young people are diverted from the Word of God and responding to the temptations of the world. Many of them are being mislead.

· Many churches are getting dry without young people.

· There is a need for discipling.

· Our efforts will be serving youths especially from rural Nepal. Ultimately this will help the local church.



Long term vision

o We long to see many young people started to feed themselves from the word of God. We will see many young people in the church and their faith will be based in the Word of God.

o This will help them to resist the temptation.

o We will see many strong Christian families in the church who will bring up their children in the fear of God.

o Young people will pursue their call for their life.



Core Values

* NYCRC loves young people from the heart: I Peter 1:22.
* Confidentiality: we will not open anything of youths- Proverbs 25:2.
* Integrity- Correspondence between life and theory, modeling: Philippians 1:27- our life is worthy to the gospel.
* Adherence to the Word of God: Philippians 2:16- We will try to catch the Word of God strongly.
* Equipping leaders: 2 Timothy 2:2- We try to pass our teaching to other people that they can teach other.
* Partnership: I Corinthians 3:5-9- We all are only the worker of His field. We work in partnership.
* Servant leadership, Simple lifestyle, low cost facilities: Mark 10:45- as Jesus came to we are also here to serve young people.
* Transparency: I Timothy 6:10- We will have transparency in finance because love of money is root of every evil.



Priority Outcomes

· Many youths will be growing spiritually following the word of God.

· We will see many young people coming to the church to serve the true God and have fellowship with other believers.

· We will see many strong Christian families and children will get chance to be devoted in the Word of God in own family.

· We will see many present young people as servant leaders in the church, organizations and in society.







Specific Need

Many youths are diverted from the Word of God and responding the temptation of the world. There is a big need to disciple them not only in spiritual matters, but also to help them to find their specific call and proffession. There is also a big need to prevent young people to respond the temptation of the world by discpling.

There is another big need to teach young people to live Christian life in practice in everyday life. Failed young people are crying for counseling and help to be restored.

Many marriages are broken. Prevention before marriage by teaching/counseling about biblical sexuality and finding a partner has become another big needs.



Other Gourps Who See These Needs

Christian Youth Connection Nepal, Youth For Christ, Youth Departments of Many Churches and there is growing realization of these needs among church leaders. While I share this with church leaders they accept this need. I am called by many churches to speak in their youth. Many times they pay for me for doing it. This is a realization of churches.



Root Causes

· Lack of discipling.

· The young people's exposure to modern technologies, which the older generation/church leaders are not able to follow. We may call it generation gap.

· Weak Christian parenting. Many parents do not know how to raise their kids. Many families have come to the Lord while their kids are grown up. In this case, there will be more need to deal with many youth issues.

· Weak youth leadership. In many churches youth leaders are not capable to handle many issues concerning young people. Some leaders are not trained well enough to help young people.



What happened, if we do not do anything?

· Many churches will be dry without young people. Without planned activities the churches will be loosing the younger generation.

· In the next generation the church on the whole gets worldly because the Bible knowledge of congragation is becoming shallow.

· We will have to see many unbiblical families where children will not get privillage to be grown up in biblical environment.



Why I feel, my involvement is needed?

Because, I am called by God for this. I have spoken more than 30 youth meeting/seminar/camps during last four years in Nepal and India.



What Resources Locally Available?

o The Bible.

o Some good youth leaders who can be further trained by our project.

o Village churches have ability to give hospitality for the speakers/resource persons.

o Some churches can bear 20-50% of the whole cost of programms.



Why do I think I can do something about it?

Ø Experiences in addressing youth on these issues with good responces.

Ø We have a developed and tested curriculum on pastoral care and counseling that will equip youth leaders.

Ø We have good rapport with church leaders centrally which opens the doors to the targeted areas.

Ø We have a well experienced and trained person who can teach youth leaders in pastoral care and counseling.



Major Challenges

* Financial sustainability.
* Political instability.
* Young people are more updated on new technologies and other things/issues than us.
* Because it is new organization, we need to do building on it.
* We need a group of trainers.
* We need more teaching and self study materials.
* I am preparing my next book dealing with youth issues. We need fund to publish this book.



Mission Statement
Many of the young people diverted from the Word of God in Nepali churches and there is a big needs to disciple them. With the love for the young people of Nepali churches we will work in partnership with the local churches and other organizations to equip them in servant leadership. Our projects will be transparent in financial matters. Prevention by descipling will be main focus. We will equip youth leaders to continue the work locally. We have dream to see many young people feeding themselves from the Word of God. Because of that there will be many good marriages and many children will be brought in a healthy family.
